I interview Dr. Rob Melendez, a comprehensive ophthalmologist from Eye Associates of New Mexico serving the Albuquerque, NM area. As a managing partner, he has successfully lead the marketing for his group and is adamant about the value of Facebook to your marketing endeavors.
This post corresponds to our latest podcast episode of “Russ and Randy” – a podcast on Healthcare and Medical Internet Marketing. We hope you like “Using FACEBOOK to Market Your Practice” You can find us on iTunes.
Sound disclaimer – this interview was conducted on site at the American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting in Chicago, 2016. We found a “quiet” office adjacent to the show floor and recorded straight to my iPhone.
Not all medical practices take advantage of social media to market themselves or their medical practice. Rob feels strongly about taking charge of the information about you available on the Internet.
By contributing your own information about yourself and your practice, through a great website and via social media platforms, you have some control and leverage over the information potential patients see about you.
Who Are You?
Listen to his tips about claiming review site accounts and updating correct and accurate information about yourself. He has some advice on how to improve your brand using social media.
“Social media is simply an extension of the face to face interactions which occur daily in your office. You are already doing it!”
Patients are desperate to find out more about their doctor. By effectively using social media, you can amplify the powerful effects of word-of-mouth.
Dr. Melendez recommends that everyone build a ‘quality website” which accurately and impressively represents you and your practice. By not having a “great website,” you are missing the opportunity to improve your brand. A website is a direct extension of who you are.
Of course, a great website must have rich content for SEO purposes.
Rob believes that by personally vetting his patient education material for his patients, he provides great value by personally reviewing them before sharing the information on social media.
How to Improve Facebook ROI
Dr. Melendez offers 4 tips to improve your ROI with Facebook. He takes the “it takes money to make money” approach toward Facebook marketing and offers some sound advice to get started…today.
