Now that you are building your email address list, now what? Use your email address list to notify your followers (patients and readers of your website) of new articles posted to your website. Consistently providing useful and educational content on your site continues to provide value, build trust and grow your practice.
This post corresponds to our latest podcast episode of “Russ and Randy” – a podcast on Healthcare and Medical Internet Marketing. We hope you like “Using Your Email Address List to Grow Your Practice.”
You can find us on iTunes.
Your email address list should be constantly growing. You should be collecting addresses in at least two ways;
- From your website via subscriber “opt in” box
- Manually collecting in the office
Your email address list will link your website to patients and Internet followers – these are your fans!
RSS Feed and Email Handler
After every post to your website, your website should automatically generate an RSS feed. An RSS feed is an automatic way readers can automatically follow a website. By subscribing to a website via RSS, a reader is always notified of new content on your website. For our purposes, an RSS feed simply connects your website to the email service provider.
Managing an RSS feed is a bit more cumbersome, however, than simply opening an email.
By connecting your website to a 3rd party email service provider (ESP), you can automatically deliver new content on your site to those on your email list. A “newsletter” will arrive in your subscibers’ email inbox containing a link to the new article on your site.
Mailchimp is a favorite and is free for the first 12,ooo emails or so. aWeber and Constant Contact are others by may charge up front.
Know Like and Trust
The importance of staying in contact with your followers in patients is to fortify marketing relationships. Your content, your articles, provide great value to your patients and followers. With value comes trust.
The better your followers get to know and trust you, the faster you will be able to build your practice.
Remember, once a patient finds your website, you must;
- Provide value (your educational articles)
- Develop trust
Once you develop trust with your readers, you have a great chance of gaining a new patient.
Health News and More
In addition to health related articles, Russ and I share our views as to other types of valuable content you can be sending to your subscribers. The more information your followers and patients have about you, the more likely they are going to help spread the word about their great doctor and your great practice.
Most patients love their doctor. Your email list is a list of your biggest fans. Give them lots of information to cheer about.
