Create content for another website. Write content or contribute to an article on a bulletin board or chat room. Become a “guest” to share your authority. Russ and I talk about ways to improve your traffic and SEO by posting or contributing as a guest.
This post corresponds to our latest podcast episode of “Russ and Randy” – a podcast on Healthcare and Medical Internet Marketing. We hope you like “Guest Blogging and Backlinks.” You can find us on iTunes …and now, ReachMD.com!
In this episode, we discuss several ways to participate on other forums and websites as a healthcare authority. In doing so, you may increase both your website traffic and, by creating quality backlinks, improve your SEO at the same time.
We talk about 3 different examples of sharing your knowledge and expose yourself to new communities.
HARO – Get Interviewed
This is a database created for journalists and reporters who require quick and authorative sources for their articles and stories. “HARO” sends out requests 3 times a day looking for “resources” who may assist journalists who have specific questions about a particular subject.
As an healthcare provider, you might consider joining HARO as a “resource.” As a “resource,” you would function as an healthcare authority and may be interviewed by the author of the story.
Any contributions you make to the final story should result in attributions or citations in the form of hyperlinks to something on your website. These are quality “backlinks” and can improve your SEO.
In addition, you get exposure to a brand new demographic!
Guest Blogging
This involves writing an article for someone else, but is a tried and true method of successful bloggers.
Offer to write an article on a related website. The articles should be written just as though you’d publish and article on your own site, i.e. following same best practices – SEO, formatting, etc.
Include several hyperlinks back to YOUR site in the article. Submit to webmaster of host site
The webmaster will love the unique content. Again, you broaden the exposure of your brand and get quality SEO backlinks to improve your SEO.
Bulletin Boards/ Patient Forums
As an authority, consider contributing to healthcare forums. Most of these are predominantly populated by patients who share the same health issues. As a healthcare authority, your input can be very valuable.
This will give you direct exposure to a new community who have health related issues and will welcome your educational remarks and articles. Again, take the opportunity to share links to your site.
