Thank you for following “Russ and Randy”! Russ and I thank you for your support and for making “Russ and Randy” so successful.
After 75+ episodes, we muse about what we have learned (mostly good) and appreciate your patience as we try to make the show as relevant as possible.
This post corresponds to our latest podcast episode of “Russ and Randy” – a podcast on Healthcare and Medical Internet Marketing. We hope you like “Inviting a Guest Blogger.” You can find us on iTunes …and now, ReachMD.com!
Our purpose is, and has been, to teach you how to avoid many of the pitfalls we have experienced as you try to understand Internet marketing.
In the beginning, two doctors believed that making a podcast would be easy. Our initial goal was to get a half dozen or so episodes done and submit for acceptance to iTunes. We estimated 3 months. While we achieved our goal, we were off by 1 year.
Fast forward, we’ve over 75 episodes. We publish weekly and haven’t missed a week in recent memory.
From the technical aspect we have come up with a great system. We each record locally (Maryland and Michigan), mix and edit the audio before publishing to LibSyn.com. This is the central server which then communicates with Stitcher and iTunes via RSS. We publish ReachMD.com separately.
New Platform
While we try to expand our audience via podcasting, it’s clear that this growing platform would be suitable for expanding and marketing yourself, too.
While it requires different talents than writing for a website, the convenience of audio can not be overstated. Podcasts are truly portable. They can be downloaded and consumed anywhere.
Podcasting is also very economical. Our actual costs are about $5/month.
Understanding Marketing
As we have said before, marketing is different than advertising, in that, marketing understands the needs of customers and provides a solution.
Our “patients” now expect to find accurate information about their health related problems and information about their doctors online. Period.
To meet that challenge, we providers must publish content, in any form, on the Internet.
Podcasting can help lower the hurdle for you to expand your digital presence.
